    A large and impressive 19th Century burr walnut bookcase of exceptional quality, the moulded arched cornice having a highly decorative carved structure on top consisting of a pair of platform bases with carved scroll decoration and a carved segmented oval plaque at the centre, either side having carved finials, four moulded and arched glazed doors below opening to reveal five adjustable shelves at the centre and four adjustable shelves either side, having pillars either side of the doors with bold carved decoration at the top as well as the bottom, the bottom section having a moulded edge with a fabulous figured top, four cupboards below with moulded panelled burr walnut door fronts, opening to reveal a fixed single shelf inside each section and having the same pillars and carved decoration either side of the doors as in the same style as the top section, supported on a moulded platform base. The bookcase is in excellent condition and the quality of the burr walnut is fabulous throughout, lovely warm walnut colour. Circa 1860.
