Circa 1775, unusual provincial Chippendale style armchair in laburnum. The chair has ribbon back and an unusual carving to one side on the top depicting acorns. The arms are shaped and have foliate carving at the front, and continue down into a cabriole shaped side fixed to the side of the chair. The drop in pad has needlepoint and there is a simple apron beneath. The chair stands on square legs at the front which are chamfered on one side and out swept square legs at the back, connected by multiple stretchers . Very unusual and stylish.
