Circa 1890, good quality pair of late Victorian mahogany and inlaid open bookcases. The solid rectangular tops have a moulded edge and a three quarter wrap around open fretwork brass gallery. Beneath this the facings and aprons have Sheraton style inlay with a mixture of satinwood and green dyed wood. There are 2 shelves with nice stylish brackets at the sides. The sides of the bookcases are also inlaid. Beneath the bottom shelf is an inlaid panel and shaped moulding, and at the front there are 2 cabriole legs with brackets at the front, finishing on ball and claw feet. The back legs are square and tapering with a tassel toe. Good colour and very sturdy, useful for ornaments, books or CDs.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
