Circa 1740. A George II and later walnut cabinet bookcase, the top with a stylish architectural pediment centered with elegant finial, two glazed arch doors with simple astragals, revealing a well fitted interior with adjustable shelves, pigeon holes, and inlaid drawers, the base with herringbone banding with a burr walnut flap, opening to reveal a well-fitted interior, the writing surface with baize, with cupboard in the center with secret drawer, with various pigeon holes, drawers and a polished surface, the flap retains original engraved cast brass escutcheon, with a combination of two short over two full length drawers each with similar escutcheons and cast brass engraved back plates with elegant swan neck handles, resting on bracket feet.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
