Circa 1790, George III mahogany bureau bookcase. The bookcase has a wonderful broken arch pediment in the Classical style with Greek key detailing and a wonderful ormolu cherub in the centre. Below the top are 2 glazed doors with classical George III astragals, inside are 3 adjustable shelves. The bureau has a crossbanded flap showing wonderful colour and a very stylish escutcheon. Inside reveals a simple but stylish interior with a variation of drawers and pigeon holes. and a burgundy leather writing surface. Below this are 4 graduating drawers with stylish escutcheons and handles. The apron at the bottom is shaped and the bookcase stands on 4 squat French splayed feet. (Alterations). This bookcase shows great style, wonderful colour, and is in excellent condition.
