The design of this stylish antique Edwardian armchair is attributed to E.W.Godwin. A similar chair is illustrated in 'The Secular Furniture of E.W. Godwin' by Susan Soros (page 131 fig.178)
The chair is made from good quality figured mahogany with a shaped bar and slat back. It has curved arms with turned supports.
The seat is caned and has an upholstered cushion in gold brocade.
The chair stands on turned legs at the front and swept legs to the back.
It is inlaid with boxwood stringing to the arms, curved back and sides and to the seat rail which also has 2 inlaid ovals in a ' fan' design.
This elegant antique chair is very sturdy and comfortable to sit in. It makes a good companion to the Mahogany Inlaid Side Table (SN495)
