This is an antique correspondence box. An English, aged leather travelling writing case in the manner of Asprey, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860.

• Appealing Victorian leather writing box, with fascinating colour
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
• Patination to the quality leather, remnants of the original green tanning visible
• Leather interior resplendent in the original green hue

• Lid dressed with an inset brass carry handle and gold tooled C.B. monogram
• Opens to reveal a tray insert with three compartments
• Inset tray removable to access a useful, second storage space

• The lid reverse hosts an X-shaped leather document holder
• Finished with a polished brass Bramah lock — untested, key absent
• Unmarked as such, but the colour and quality redolent of Asprey of London

This is a delightful antique correspondence box, with an appealingly patinated leather outer and rich green interior. A treat for the desktop. Delivered ready for the home or on voyage.
