This is an antique cased microscope. An English, enamelled metal and brass scientific instrument by J. Swift & Son of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.

• Presented in a quality case, the microscope of appealing Victorian craftsmanship
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order throughout
• Black enamelled stand contrasting with the bright polished brass instrument
• Quality carry box shows rich caramel hues with inset lock — key absent

• Extending eyepiece tube over a rack and pinion main focus rail
• Three slot nosepiece resides above a square stage with rotary slide holders
• Stage engraved with a fine measuring grid

• Trio of accessory objective lenses resting within the case
• Bright, good quality rotating mirror beneath the slide holder
• Engraved to the rear with J. Swift & Son London maker's mark
• Dealer plaque to case for A. Franks of Deansgate, Manchester
