Circa 1870, good Victorian burr walnut kneehole desk. The burr walnut crossbanded top has an ogee moulded fore edge and has been recently recovered with a tooled and gilded burgundy leather writing surface. Beneath the top there is a configuration of one long drawer and 4 graduating drawers either side, with solid mahogany liners and original ebonised bun handles. The locks are stamped with the maker's label R.L & Co. Beneath the middle drawer there are burr walnut quarter brackets, and beneath the bottom drawer there is a double ogee moulding. The whole thing stands on an enclosed plinth with castors for ease of movement. The back of the desk is polished and free standing.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
