Circa 1920. A quality mahogany three-part pedestal desk by ‘Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh’ the top with an insert tooled brown leather with large mahogany panels each side, and broadly crossbanded. The frieze with a long drawer flanked by a pair of shorter drawers each with carved flower head knob handles, resting on a pair of pedestals each on a bank of three graduating drawers with similar handles to the top. Unusually has oak facing and a panel back, beneath the bottom drawer is a stylish moulding and the desk rests on eight stylish ‘Lorimer’ carved feet. The desk has great colour and patination, clean stylish and functional.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981.
