Description
A very attractive Victorian oval occasional table, English, dating to the mid 19th century. The table is finely veneered in richly figured burr walnut, with an elegant oval top beautifully inlaid with scrolling foliate decoration and a central cartouche, all framed within delicate line inlay.
The top is supported on a well-proportioned turned and baluster column, raised on a carved quadriform base with swept feet, each leg enriched with carved detail and terminating in shaped feet. The base is united by a central finial, adding both strength and decorative interest.
The table displays excellent colour and patination throughout, with the burr walnut veneer showing particularly attractive figuring. Of good size and versatile proportions, it is ideal for use as a coffee table, centre table, or occasional table in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
