Circa 1870, unusual pair of ebonised, gilded and Mother of Pearl inlaid side or nursing chairs. With open fretwork and various inlays and Mother of Pearl to the splat and back, it also has light painted features. They have a large stuffover seat with slightly worn needlepoint. The back legs are tapering and slightly outswept and the elegant cabriole legs to the front are united by an apron.
