This is a pair of antique Venetian court chairs. An Italian, hand-carved oak decorative seat, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1890.
- Fascinating chairs, with eye-catching detail throughout
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Deliciously heavy oak stocks present deep chestnut hues
- Hand-carved craftsmanship decorates each chair
- Dome top to the stout back rest with dashing fan motif carvings
- Circular forms sit atop the upright stiles, each finished with chased pattern fields
- Distinctive court jester masques sit prominently to the centre, with pleasingly jovial renditions
- Diamond pattern band to the lower rail, uniting the whole
- Wide, flat seat base accentuated with large decorative patera
- Cupped carvings add a Gothic revival flourish to the seat edge
- Square aprons with block knees add a robust visual appeal
