Circa 1870. A mid Victorian carved oak floor standing bookcase with Royal connection, the solid top with a foliate carving fore-edge, with three adjustable shelves and a panel back, the facings in form of two pilasters with a continuous entwined leaf and branches from top to bottom, below the bottom shelf, there’s a stylish moulding, piece rests on an enclosed plinth. Inside the top and the back panel, the label 'Bookshelves bought for £1 and one shilling in 1932 at The Sale of Goods at Mar Lodge (further information which is not legible)’.On the back, there is another trade label for ‘Druse & Co LTD Baker Street W1’.‘The Princess Royal (daughter of Queen Victoria) married the 1stDuke of Fife in 1889.
