Circa 1860, very unusual Victorian walnut Canterbury and writing table. The top tier has carved open fretwork lifting handles on each side and has a quarter veneered top. Below the top is a moulded edge and a concave apron which is a drawer opening to show a slide with leather insert and a pen slide compartment for ink and stationery. Below this are 2 very fine trestle ends with open fretwork in carved walnut. The next tier is beautiful burr walnut with a moulded edge and again a concave cushion which opens to reveal a drawer which is mahogany lined. The apron all around is the same shape. This piece stands on 4 turned bell shaped feet. Unusual piece.
