Circa 1840, good set of 4 Continental carved mahogany hall chairs. The stylish backs are in the form of Heraldic shields with open fretwork centres and carved lions on the upright. Two of the chairs have the carved lions wearing crowns. The seats have canted corners and paper labels beneath them saying they have come from Holyrood Palace (some damaged) and at the front a further label stating the chairs were obtained from The Marquis of Breadalbane's Apartment at Holyrood Palace May 16th, 1880. All stands on 4 substantial turned bulbous legs united by a shaped X frame cruciform stretcher with a large finial in the centre, and finishing on squat bun feet. The chairs are stylish with excellent historical provenance.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
