Circa 1815, Scottish Regency mahogany teapoy. The rectangular top has a central panel of flame mahogany which is slightly raised and a stylish beaded fore edge which continues all round. The top is hinged and opens to reveal stylish gilded brass hinges with retainers to stop the lid from falling back. The inside of the lid also has a flame mahogany panel. There is a combination of 5 lidded sections with brass knobs, 2 circular apertures for mixing bowls, and 2 containers in the centre with lift tops for the actual tea. This is quite an elaborate interior for a teapoy of the period. The body itself is sarcophagus shaped and is supported on a square and tapering column, with similar beadings to the top. The whole piece stands on a raised platform base with canted corners and four sabre legs, which finish on stylish brass castors. The teapoy has a flat top so could be used as a side table or lamp table also.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
