Circa 1870, wonderful pair of mid Victorian carved walnut ladies and gents chairs. The chairs have been re-upholstered in a very stylish damask and are in pristine condition. The oval padded backs have foliate carving at the top which is the same on both chairs. The gents chair has a pair of arms with a padded section in the centre and carved scrolling fronts with a swept upright which continues down into the carved knee of the legs. The ladies chair has a small raised section at the back which is carved with flower head roundels. The seats on both chairs are stuffover and serpentine fronted and beneath them is a wonderful carved apron. The back legs are turned and outswept, the front legs are cabriole with a square block almost in a Greek key pattern. Standing on the original brass and white porcelain castors. Excellent colour and condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
