Circa 1890, late Victorian satinwood dressing table. The mirror at the top has a rectangular frame, bevelled edge and stylish simple cornice. It is held in place by 2 upright brackets with scratch carving and a carved oval flower head at the top. There are brass brackets left and right for sliding the mirror in and the mirror is adjustable. There is a large flat surface with a moulded edge and beneath this the dressing table is in the form of a kneehole desk, with a centre drawer with original knob handles and beneath this 2 simple carved brackets. Left and right there is a combination of 5 graduating drawers with interesting large turned knob handles. There is carving at the end of each of the drawers, almost in the form of fluted and reeded pilasters giving the dressing table an elegant look. The gables on the inside and outside are polished and the whole piece stands on a simple enclosed plinth.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
