Circa 1900, Edwardian Jacobean style oak hall table, with a gong suspended in the centre. The top, with its canted corners and gadrooned fore edge, has a back ledge with further gadrooning on the top and blind fretwork in the centre. Beneath the top there’s a single drawer with a fielded panel and two cast brass drop handles. On either side of this and on the sides of the table are further fielded panels of various forms. Below the drawer are two semi-circlular panels with carved capitals in the form of twist rope carving. From this is suspended a circular brass gong. The table stands on four barley sugar legs, on a solid oak base which follows the same shape and form as the top, and beneath this the piece stands on five squat bun feet. An unusual piece of hall furniture, stylish, clean, good quality.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
