Circa 1825, unusual and stylish rosewood George IV ottoman/stool in the form of a wine cooler. The large rectangular top is upholstered and the fore edge is rosewood framed. The top is hinged and inside is lined with black fabric. Beneath the lid is another ogee rosewood moulding. The body of the ottoman has concave edges on all sides, and at the base is another ogee moulding. From this protrude wonderful foliate carved feet, almost in the form of a bracket foot. Inside this on the base is a steel castor to allow ease of movement. Good size, would also work as a coffee table.
