Circa 1830, George IV mahogany open bookcase, with wonderful scroll and acanthus carved pediment above the stylish cornice. Beneath are 4 columns with fluted foliate tops and carved sections at the base, standing on a circular base. The central section has 3 adjustable shelves and a wonderful shaped arch. The arch is repeated on the two side sections on a smaller scale. There are again 3 adjustable shelves on the side sections.
Beneath the top is a flat surface and four doors, 2 inverted and 2 at the ends. The outer doors have 2 finely turned columns and open to reveal a cupboard with a single adjustable shelf. The centre has a pair of doors and inside are 2 adjustable shelves. Beneath this is an extended base and the whole piece stands on wonderful carved scroll feet with flower head centre, foliate carving on the inside and scrolling ends. The four doors have matching flamed mahogany panels. There are 2 squat bun feet at the back.
