Circa 1880 & later, George II walnut, burr walnut and inlaid dressing table. The rectangular shaped low boy has a stylish top with 6 various panels; some aboyna, some are burr walnut and 2 diamonds left and right are satin wood and burr walnut. These are all inter linked with walnut banding and there is a caddy edge with cross banding. At the front there is a configuration of 2 long drawers and combinations of other small and squat drawers. All the drawers have cast brass tear drop handles with carved back plates. The smaller drawers have a smaller version of this with an open fretwork back panel. The 2 smallest drawers have a parquetry panelled front and the rest have burr veneers. Beneath the bottom middle drawer there is a very stylish apron with a solid carved proud moulded edge on the front. This apron continues around the side and at the front and around the sides. The whole piece stands on 4 well carved walnut legs with shelves on the top, carved quarter brackets with a scoop at the back finishing on an unusual but stylised foot.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
