Circa 1900, George II style walnut and burr walnut bookcase on stand, with a wonderful shaped double dome top over 2 glazed doors which follow the shape of the cornice. There are 12 panes of original hand thrown glass on each door. The doors open to show 4 adjustable shelves. Beneath the doors is a moulded edge which is done in running grain, and beneath this a wonderful shaped burr walnut apron with matching veneers on left and right, which continues around the sides. The bookcase stands on cabriole legs at the front and simple rectangular feet at the back. The carcass of the bookcase is oak and the bookcase is in two parts.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
