Circa 1920, George II style burr walnut block front lowboy. The top with burr walnut veneers and crossbanded edge on the front and sides, over a scribe moulding on the fore edge. Beneath the top are two serpentine drawers with crossbanding and burr walnut panels in the centre. The back plates of the handles are pressed brass in the form of a sun burst or petal, and a simple stylised foliate cast flower handle hangs down from it. The fore edge of the lowboy is canted and veneered in walnut. Beneath the bottom drawer is a deep shaped apron, and the whole piece stands on four elegant carved cabriole legs, with scrolling quarter blocks which continue onto the knees and terminating on simple pad feet.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
