Circa 1850, early Victorian Scottish mahogany armchair, with a solid mahogany curved and carved back over a well curved centre splat with foliate carving and scrolling. The two large mahogany arms curve down from the back and finish with a curled end. They are held in position by a mahogany upright with a stylised capital at the top. The substantial front legs are turned and tapered and finish with a brass ring and a brown porcelain castor, and the back legs are square and outswept. The chair is clean and sturdy with a good patination.
