Circa 1840, early Victorian mahogany three door cabinet bookcase. The cornice tapers on the top, is flat on the front and then concave beneath with sections of mahogany added to give an unusual and stylish look. Beneath this are three large rectangular glazed doors with curved canted corners on the top. There are two elongated tapering and fluted pilasters on either side of the centre door with a carved finial top and a faceted base. Beneath the base is a moulding which follows the form of the columns and this runs around all three doors. Inside are four adjustable shelves in each section. The base of the bookcase has three cupboard doors with lovely flame mahogany panels. Between the doors are carved roundels and unusual beading in the centre. Inside is single shelf which is adjustable. All standing on an enclosed plinth. The bookcase breaks down into several pieces for ease of movement. Excellent condition with working locks.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
