Circa 1860, early Victorian burr walnut and inlaid pier cabinet. The top has wonderful burr walnut veneers with a moulded section with kingwood banding, above a burr walnut concave section with satinwood and amboyna inlay. This continues around the sides giving the effect of a pagoda top. Below this there is a simple apron with string inlay and a gilded brass beading. There is a single door with string inlay arched on the top, rounded corners and a brass beading. Inside there are 2 shelves with double string inlay on the front. Left and right of the door there are 2 cast capitals with foliate casting, and at the base each side of the door. Beneath the door again there is this rounded moulding of kingwood veneer which runs around the sides. The whole piece stands on an enclosed plinth with a large casting in the centre and string inlay. The cabinet is good colour, clean with good patination.
