Circa 1830. An interesting Dutch walnut and marquetry bombe shaped bureau. The top with two large inlaid panels with shells, chequered and boxwood inlay. The serpentine flap with further inlaid panels with classical urns, with a well fitted interior with a pictorial panel on the writing surface, further shell inlay and a combination of serpentine inlaid shaped drawers, pigeon holes and inlaid door. The loppers which hold the flap in place are shaped to accommodate the bombe shaped flap. A full-length drawer (oak lined) with a flared inlaid frieze beneath, which continues around the sides, which have inlaid panels, all resting on four elegant cabriole legs with chequered inlay running down each of the facings.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
