This is an antique extending book slide. A French, burr walnut and brass book rack, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1850.

• Superb Victorian book slide with charming enamel medallions
• Displays a desirable aged patina, slight crack to one medallion
• Striking burr walnut shows fine grain interest and warm caramel hues
• Brass mounts to either end present subtle golden tones

• Ends presented with oval cutouts over painted enamel foliate scenes
• Manually operated book slide in smooth working order
• Accommodates books within a 31.5cm to 55cm range (12.5'' to 21.75'')
• Tiered plinth base with ebonised finish, protective pad to base
