A Scottish, oak ecclesiastical bench seat with Pugin-esque taste, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.Superb in proportion and finish, with overtones of Augustus Pugin's gothic revival sensibilitiesDisplays a desirable aged patina and in very good orderStrong Scottish oak shows fine grain interest and an abundance of medullary raysBeautiful caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finishProminent carved trefoils adorn the apex of the stout stile supportsTwenty panel back rest beneath a full-width top rail with rolled edgeLower legs finished with subtle shoulder carvingsStanding upon a trio of deep trestle feet, the central leg with concave profileThis is a delightful antique pew, with large proportion and superb seat width and height for several people to sit comfortably.
