Circa 1820. A quality George IV mahogany two door wardrobe likely to be by ‘William Trotter of Edinburgh’. The top with a ridged panel, surmounted by two well carved finials with carved rondels to the front. A pair of two panel doors each with matching flame mahogany panels, the inside of the wardrobe has uninterrupted hanging on the left, on the right hand side a fixed shelf and a bank of four drawers, each of the drawers with gilded brass swan neck handles and oval backplates. The doors have a ribbed pilaster similar to the moulding on the top running from top to bottom. Beneath the doors is a classic Trotter feature of a quarter beading which runs around the front and sides of the robe, all standing on a deep enclosed plinth. The wardrobe has excellent colour and patination.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
