Circa 1850, Victorian mahogany 2 part military chest, with brass brackets on the top and various bandings on the fore edges. The top and bottom sections both have cast brass lifting handles. There are two short drawers on the top over a further full sized drawer, and the bottom section also has two full length drawers. The drawers have quality military style brass handles which are recessed into the drawer front and the handle is flush with the casing allowing the piece of furniture to be inserted into a carrying case without damaging any of the sections. These are stamped 'Silver & Co., Silvertown, Essex'. Beneath the bottom drawers there is a small block at the front and the back and the chest finishes on four turned squat feet which are removable. The chest retains its original colour and patination.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
