set of 6 victorian mahogany and leather dining chairs

Circa 1890, set of 6 late Victorian mahogany and leather upholstered dining chairs. The shaped top splat has stylish leaf style decoration beneath. The burgundy leather padded back is held in place by a faux leather webbing and similar coloured studs, and below this is a foliate carving and sweeping arch finishing in a curl. The chairs have a stuffover seat with rich colour, crackle and patination, and beneath this the front and side rails are ribbed. The legs at the front are turned, fluted and tapering and finish on a block with brass ring castors with porcelain wheels, united to the outswept back legs by ribbed stretchers. Great style, colour and quality.

Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
