This is a pair of antique virtue figures. A French, bronze decorative female statue in Art Nouveau taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890.

• Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
• Bronze forms are wonderfully patinated throughout
• Warm golden hues flourish amongst darker mottled hues

• Each figure displays a French virtue - Modestie and Gaiete
• Their respective poses reflect their character to great effect
• Demure and bashful, Modestie looks towards the ground wistfully
• Full of reverie and openness, Gaiete holds her arms wide as her dress billows

• Raised upon ebonised circular socles with rolled and tiered finish
• Small annotated name plaques adorn the front of each socle
• Pleasingly substantial in the hand; Modestie - 1.88kg (4.14 lb) & Gaiete - 1.98kg (4.36 lb)
