Here’s a lovely old Victorian pine blanket chest, or blanket box, with a flat top. It’s in very nice condition for its age and has a clean, simple look that would suit a wide range of interiors.

Inside, it retains its original penny-end strap hinges and includes a small candle box on the left-hand side — traditionally used for storing candles, while the main compartment was for blankets and linens. The lock doesn’t appear to be working, which is quite common for pieces of this age.The back is tidy as well, so it could be placed in the centre of a room and even used as a coffee table if desired.Price: £310 as it is, or £347 if you’d like it waxed.Dimensions: height 19.5", width 37", depth 19.5"
