Circa 1800, late George III mahogany chair. The simply curved top rail is narrow with satinwood banding and held in place by 2 sturdier uprights with inlay on the edge. In the centre there are 5 ribbed uprights held in place by a cross stretcher at the bottom and a top rail above. There is a stuff over seat and the front of the chair is slightly bowed. The back legs are square and taper as they move away from the chair body. The front legs are squared and tapering. These are united by an H stretcher to give it extra sturdiness. The single chair is very stylish and clean.
