Here we have a very large antique pine storage cupboard, featuring a slightly unusual and characterful layout with two small drawers set between two cupboard sections.
At the top is a cupboard door opening from left to right, with two smaller drawers beneath, and a further large cupboard door below, also opening left to right. The piece is flat on top, making it useful for additional storage or display.
It stands on substantial bun feet at the front, with square block feet at the back — a typical feature of pieces from this period.
This cupboard has an interesting history, as it appears to have originally been a large pine armoire dating from the late 1800s, which would have separated into two sections. Evidence of this can still be seen inside, where the original joining method would have been. It has since been professionally adapted into a single, solid unit. The workmanship is very good, with the timber well matched throughout. It seems likely that an original single door was reworked into two, with the leftover timber used to make the drawer fronts.
Inside each section, there is currently a shelf, making it a practical storage piece as it stands.
Overall, it’s a solid, practical, and slightly quirky piece with plenty of character.
