Circa 1880. Quality George III style mahogany pedestal desk, the top with insert green embossed and gilded leather, with broad flamed mahogany cross banding with a simple moulded fore-edge, the frieze with a configuration of one long drawer flanked by a pair of shorter ones, all with cast brass swan neck handles with pierced flower shape back plates, the drawers in the top have ‘Chubb patent locks, London’, resting on a pair of pedestals each with a bank of three graduating drawers with similar handles to the top with flame mahogany facings and cock beading, beneath the bottom drawer there is a beading that runs around the entire desk which is polished on all sides making it freestanding, each of the pedestals are supported on four French bracket feet.78cm High, 140cm Wide, 60cm Deep

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs.
