Circa 1780, exceptional quality George III satinwood and mahogany inlaid Pembroke table. The top has two drop leaf flaps with double crossbanding of satinwood and ebony. The colour on the top is wonderful. Below the top on one side is a single drawer with a raised ebonised double beading, an ivory heraldic escutcheon and very stylish ebonised inlay finishing in a Greek key. There is an extended apron on the drawer which finishes in a smaller version of the satinwood and ebony banding which is on the top. The opposite side has a dummy drawer in the same style. At the top of the legs are small panels of ebonised wood which is ribbed, so tightly it almost looks like horizontal quilling. The legs have similar inlay with Greek key to the drawer and satinwood banding on the outside. They are square and tapering finishing on brass cup castors. Wonderful example of Georgian furniture.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
