Circa 1775, George III Hepplewite style mahogany inlaid fold over card table. The D shaped top with kingwood, satinwood and boxwood crossbanding. In the centre is a large satinwood, boxwood and mahogany shell. The top opens to reveal a red baize lining inside and further crossbanding with ebony edging. Beneath the top is a simple apron with a small beading, dipping down in the centre and finishing with two small scrolls left and right. The shaped apron continues around the sides. The back legs are hinged in the centre and have a small clasp to lock them in position. These sweep out to hold the top when open. The table stands on 4 simple and elegant cabriole legs with a beaded edge at the front, finishing on simple raised feet. Beautiful example of furniture of this period.
