Circa 1850, early Victorian mahogany armchair. The chair with its classic Scottish large shaped splat, supported by 2 shaped uprights and a simple cross stretcher with a rounded front and with a flat edge on the top. The 2 arms as they taper down towards the seat pad finishing with a curled end and held in position by 2 tapered uprights. The seat in burgundy oxblood leather has been recently re-upholstered, and is held in position by close brass studding. Beneath this there is a simple apron. The back legs are tapered and outswept. The front legs are simple but elegantly turned with a slight bulbous section at the top and finishing on a raised toe. The chair is great colour, excellent condition.
