Superb quality and truly impressive, William IV mahogany metamorphic writing desk, having scroll carved and shaped gallery to top, vertical front panel with up and over action revealing a fitted interior of drawers and pigeon holes, pull out writing slides operate covered panel, the green leather writing top is divided into 3 sections enclosing separate wells, below is a pair of framed panelled doors enclosing 3 sliding drawers, flanked by carved pilaster forecorners, stands on orbicular feet. The centre well bears a printed label with the name "Simson & Son, upholsterer and cabinet maker. St Pauls Church Yard, London" c1830
