Circa 1830, very unusual William IV mahogany clerk’s desk. The desk has a rectangular solid top which is hinged and opens to reveal an uninterrupted interior with a mahogany liner. The front section has a fielded panel on the front and there are similar but smaller fielded panels on the sides. The front is held in position by 2 turned columns with simple capitals and bases. The bottom of the columns sit on a breakfront platform. At the back there are 3 open shelved sections, with a beaded edge on the divisions and simple arches at the top. An unusual piece - very stylish and useful.
Size 100cm high x 113cm wide x 56.5cm deep.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
