Circa 1920, very stylish mahogany desk by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh. The desk has a stylish concave crossbanded top with three panels of fine figured mahogany and amboyna panels scattered throughout. The desk is freestanding with flame mahogany panels on the sides and similar on the back. At the front is a single concave drawer and two either side with original cast brass handles, locks by Langebear & Co of Birmingham and all the top three drawers stamped Whytock & Reid Edinburgh. The liners of the drawers are solid mahogany. The legs start at the top, are fluted and tapering finishing in a stylised pad foot. The desk is typical Whytock & Reid quality.
