Circa 1920, mahogany bedside cabinet by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh. With a flamed quarter veneered and half veneered matching top, the cabinet has a wrap around gallery in the Georgian style. It has raised sections in the corner and lifting handles to the left and right. Below the gallery is a pull out candle slide which retracts fully and has a small lip. Beneath this there is a single door with flame mahogany panel, chamfered edge and a cast brass pull handle. This opens to show the inside, which has a slatted bottom. The front section of the bedside cabinet is square with a slight reeding on the fore edge, and beneath the door there is a simple apron. The whole piece stands on 4 elegant tapering legs that finish in a simple but stylish pad foot. It is in excellent condition and a fine example of Whytock & Reid quality.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
