Circa 1870, Victorian mahogany oval shaped, snap top breakfast table. The table top has been recently French polished in the traditional method, and has an ogee edge and half round moulding beneath this. Behind the top is the frame which carries the table onto its block. There is a peg for locking the table top in position with 2 brass clips left and right which attach the table top to the block. Beneath the block there is a turned and tapering section. There is a large bulbous piece of mahogany in the centre which tapers in and from this there are 4 well carved cabriole legs with acanthus leaves at the top. They have scroll carving beneath and they finish on a slightly raised toe with curled sides. Beneath this there are original brass and white porcelain castors.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
