Circa 1880, a Victorian gilded and ebonised occasional / prie dieu chair. The chair has an oddly shaped top rail and has deep buttoned upholstery that continues down the back. The back is held in place with an ebonised frame and on the outside there are two curled and tapering fluted columns which are both ebonised and gilded. There is a shaped stuffover seat with deep buttons similar to the back, and the seat has a piped edge and upholstered sides. The uprights at the back continue down to sturdy and slightly shaped back legs. At the front there are two elegant turned and tapering fluted legs similar to that of the upright and finishes on a raised toe. The chair is very stylish and the upholstery is good quality.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from lighting to furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
