    Sn2886 Exceptional Victorian, mahogany and brass inlaid Louise XVI revival, 2 door wardrobe by Edwards and Roberts, having arched cresting with acanthus grasped pine cone finials, panelled doors enclosing hanging section above 2 short and 2 long, oak lined drawers, all fitted with original, brass handles, flanked by brass inlaid, fluted columns, all raised on turned, tapering feet terminating in brass cups. c1880

    Edwards & Roberts were founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
