Circa 1830, set of 3 thread mahogany commode steps. The top thread has a solid mahogany frame, where a carpet insert is hinged and opens to reveal an uninterrupted interior. The next step is hinged and also pulls forward and houses the commode. The freestanding steps are in flame mahogany and polished on the front, sides and back, and the threads are of a generous size. Beneath the bottom thread is a deep apron in flame mahogany and beneath this again a simple ogee moulding. The whole piece stands on 4 turned and twisted mahogany squat feet. The provenance of this piece is Forter Castle, Perthshire.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
